FELT RIGHT SOLUTIONS:

OFFICES: HOME & COMMERCIAL

Whether we work from home or commute to a place of business, we spend a lot of time in our offices. These spaces need to be visually and acoustically pleasing, allow us to concentrate for long periods of time, and communicate comfortably both in-person and over phone/video. Noise sources may include co-workers, printers, and even our own voices reflecting off of hard surfaces when we talk. Felt Right tiles are fantastic at treating room noise, especially in the vocal range, and they’re both beautiful and customizable. While offices come in many sizes and layouts, generally there are always designated individual work areas, and this is a great place to begin with acoustic treatments.

Surface Area
Create distance
Air absorbs high-frequency noise. Put distance between two competing conversations. Move noise sources away from listeners (eg: printers, dehumidifiers, tv, radio).
Where do I place
Add absorptive materials
Add absorptive materials (such as Felt Right tiles) and soft furniture to the space to reduce sound from bouncing around the room causing noise.
Stop Adjacent Sound
REARRANGE THE WORKSPACE
Face workspaces away from each other to use the directionality of higher frequency sounds (the human voice) to your advantage, and if a workspace ends up facing a wall, treat that wall with absorptive material.

ISOLATE NOISY ADJACENT SPACES
If a noisy adjacent space is disturbing your office, seal up non-critical gaps between the rooms (around doors, windows, etc). For through-wall vibrations, cover the entire wall with a vibration-damping material like Felt Right tiles. For more info, see the Noise from Adjacent Spaces page.
PLACEMENT FOR YOUR SPACE
When adding absorbers such as Felt Right acoustic tiles, consider these placement options.
Felt Right acoustic tiles
1.
All hard surfaces around a person’s immediate work area.
2.
Between two co-workers.
HOME and COMMERCIAL Tiles
3.
Between a person and a noise source.
“We designed an open office for a client and along one wall, we needed “art” that would fill a really wide wall space… 24 feet wide, 3 feet tall but it also needed to help control sound. So, using the felt squares, the assembled multi-colored panels reflect the accent colors of the primarily grey-toned office space while providing a quiet zone for the office staff in this department. Cubicle panels will eventually be installed in front of the art. but the wall felt squares will be easily seen from 20 feet away.”
